Built in 1900 to serve as the hospital for the town of Sumpter, the building also served as the town's brothel starting in 1912. In 1917 a devastating fire swept through the town, destroying most of it, including the Masonic Hall. Later that year the Masonic Hall moved in to the building and there it stayed for 55 years. ?In the 1970's the building was sold to private individuals and has been the Sumpter Bed & Breakfast since 1997.
