History

Housed in a former 1950s medical building, the Indian Creek Museum is one of Caldwell’s most unique historical landmarks—and possibly one of its most quietly haunted.

Originally the private medical office of Dr. John Finck, the building was used by various doctors while he was deployed during the Korean War. Upon his return, Dr. Finck continued practicing medicine there, eventually sharing the space with Dr. Archie Gulley, a local dentist. After Dr. Finck retired, the building was turned over to the Gulleys, who later transformed it into a museum.

The Indian Creek Museum was officially founded by Dr. Gulley and his wife Opal, showcasing their personal collection of antiques and local artifacts. Since 2006, the Canyon County Historical Society has managed the museum, which now holds over 30 themed exhibits—all displayed in the original medical exam rooms, labs, and offices.

Paranormal Activity

While not widely publicized, visitors and volunteers alike have reported unexplained activity throughout the museum. Given its long history as a medical facility—where life, death, and healing all converged—some believe the energy of the past still lingers.

Common reports include:

  • Unusual cold spots in certain rooms, even when the HVAC system is off.

  • Disembodied voices and whispers, often heard in the former exam rooms or hallways.

  • Shadows and fleeting figures, especially near displays featuring original medical and dental equipment.

  • A general feeling of being watched or followed, most commonly experienced by staff closing the museum alone.

Whether it’s the residual energy of former patients, lingering spirits of those who once worked here, or something tied to the historical artifacts on display, the Indian Creek Museum presents a compelling blend of local heritage and paranormal intrigue.

It’s a place where history lives on—and maybe something else does too.
